To choise area for a farm must be careful, because there the bullfrog will cultured, and produced continiously. Survey is very important to see it before choising or fixing as an area. Area situation will effect to production, and business management system. Fixing a location based on condition, space, kind of land, and water.
1. Area conditions
Technicaly, an area has to has condition, that is:
a. Near of water resources, but it isn’t flooding area
b. Located in 20 – 500 m of the sea
c. Water quality is good, and it isn’t dirty by industry.
d. Water is continoiusly.
e. Kind of land is luxurious and strong.
f. Square depend scale
Sosioly, an area has to has condition, that is:
a. To keep areas. Or pond has to keep people life situation, and keep naturaly.
b. To use local materials. Or pond doesn’t use export materials, in order cheap
c. To use local workers. Or pond doesn’t use other workers, except experts so that safe.
d. Safe, or it doesn’t disturded by stoler.
e. Allowed by society.
Economicaly, an area has to has condition, that is :
a. Near with the markets, in order easy to sell and cost of transportation cheap.
b. In the bank of road, so that easy to transport materials and yield.
c. Near with central of town, so that easy to get materials bay the cheap.
d. Communication is good, like telphon, faximile and handphond.
B. Area square
Wide of area has to fixe before. It depend of scale. Fixing wide of area is based on productive area, and unproductive area. Productive area is areas for buliding principal facilities, like reservoir, broodstock pond, spawning pond, hatching pond, and rearing pond. Whereas unproductive is area for other facilities, like worker houses, office, warehouse, and meeting room.

D. Water
Water is principal factor in the bullfrog culture. Because water is media for life frog. Before using, the water has to known. Success or not the bullfrog culture depend on the water. Good water quality will give out the high yield, and bad water quality willn’t give out the high yield. There three factors for determining the water. That is source oaf water, quantity, quality and continounity.
1. Water resources
Fixing water resources is based kind of fish, activities, and scales. Water for fish culture can from rivers, irrigation, lakes, ground water, canal, and the other. The all of them have streng and weakness, specialy if based on economicaly and scales.
a. River
River is water which run in the surface of ground by the wide 10 m. Quantity of the river is very high, specialy in the raining season. Before using to irrigate to the ponds has to made a dam. The dam has to strong, and for making a dam in the river needs high cost. The rivers only use for 1.000 ponds of an area. It isn’t eficient for 100 pond of an area. Water rivers only for rearing, for growing isn’t well.
b. Iriggation
Irrigation is water which run in the surface of ground by the wide 5 m. Irrigation is from a river. Before using to irrigate the ponds has to made a dam. But the dam is littler and the cost for making isn’t higher than the dam in the river. Iriggation can be used for 100 pond. If used for 10 pond isn’t suitable, because it’s over or flooding. Water irrigation also for rearing.
c. Canal
Canal is water which run in the surface of ground by the wide 0,5 m. Canal can from irrigation or water ground. Before using to irrigete the pond hasn’t to make a high dam. There can be made a little dam by the some stones. Canal is very suitable for 5 ponds, and isn’t suitable for 10 ponds, moreover for 100 pond, because water quantity is little. Water canal can be used for growing, but it has to filtered before.
d. Water ground
Water ground is water which appear from ground. It’s many found in the hill valley, mountainous, and under the big trees. Differ with of them, water ground is very clean, and clear. It’s very suitable for growing. In the field indicate, that the bullfrogs which cultivated there can live well, and tolerant by attack diseases. Whereas, the bullfrog which cultivated in river water, irrigation water can’t live well, and intolerant by attack diseases.
2. Water quality
All of water isn’t suitable for bullfrog. Water in bad quality can cause the fishes deadt and it make lose. Checking water is very interesting before using, so that to know physical, biological, and chemistry parameters.
Physical consists principal parameters, that is colour of water, turbidity, and temperature. Biological factor consists kind and quantity of animal water. Whereas chemistry factor consists biological oksigent dysolved (BOD), carbondiokside, pH, alkalinity, ammoniac, nitrate, nitrite exectra.
Checking water quality can ask help to fisheries reshearch, university, and districk of fisheries offices. But this method need high cost. One of cheap method is by seeing lifely of some of fishes, like common carp and Tillapia. If the both of fishes life good, it’s indicate that the water is good for other fishes. If can’t life bad, it’s bad for other fishes.
Some of parameters of water quality for bullfrog : Temperature are 25 – 30 O C, Colour of water are green for rearing, clear for growing, turbidity in rearing pond are 20–40 cm by plankton, BOD are minimal 4 mg/l, Carbondiokside maksimal are 25 mg/l, pH are 6,5 – 7,5, Amoniac maximal are 0,1 mg/l, alcalinity are 50-300 mg/l.
3. Discharge
Discaharge is quantity of water which current in a source. It has to enough during culture. It’s depend of scale, and stage. For it, discharge has to account before. There are many method for acounting discharge, both of them are matematic account system, and direct account.
Matematic account system is very suitable for river, irrigation, and canal. Its method : measure wide of river, or irrigation, measure deep of them. Fix two dot there. For example, dot A and dot B. Lay a floater in dot A (corky or sterofoam). Book time from dot A to dot B. If wide of source is 1 m, deep are 50 cm, distance dot A to dot B are 10 m, time are 50 second. Water discharge are :
1 m x 0,5 m x 10 m/second = 100 ltr/litre
Direct account is very suitable for little discharge, before enter to pond. It’s methode : catch water by a pail, Book time’s. If pail has 20 litre in volume, and time’s are 10 secound, discharge are 2 litre/secound.
4. Continuously
Except, quality and discharge, continuously also important. Continuously is situation water which current in a source. Water has to current all the time. If not, culture can stoped. Simple method to see water continuously is with seeing in the drying season. If in the drying season the water current, its good source. The source which choised.
